- Using NCSA Telnet with MacTCP, users can run
- programs that generate 2D output (either single
- files or a series of animation images) on a remote
- host (eg, a Cray) and route the output back to
- DataScope on the Macintosh for viewing and
- additional operations. In addition, subroutines
- residing on the remote host can be used to process
- DataScope datasets on the Macintosh via the
- DataScope notebook. Refer to the manual for
- details of the mechanics of this operation.
- DataScope's welcoming dialog informs the user
- as to whether the networking functionality
- can be used: if so, the message reads "Network
- Enabled"; if, for any reason, the networking
- capability will not work, the message reads
- "Network Disabled".
- If the network is disabled, DataScope's other
- features work as they should: the user simply
- cannot use the networking capabilities of the
- program.
